Why You Should Plant Now!

Why Fall is the Best Season to Plant

4 Reasons to Plant in the Fall

It’s really the best time to get those plants in the ground right now.  Here are some reasons to get outside and enjoy the cooler days in your yard.

Lot less stress on the plants.

Not as hot outside and the plants can focus on root growth. This means that planting your favorite flowers and shrubs will create less root shock to the plants.  By allowing the plants to transition easier from pots to in-ground will give the plants and shrubs a great start for a beautiful spring and summer.

Won’t have to water as much as in the summer.

In South Louisiana we do love being outside in the summer and adding new flowers to our yards.  But with that new planting means lots of watering.  The harsh sun in Baton Rouge and our neighboring areas can certainly wreak havoc on new plants and cause damage.  Not to mention the plants will have a tougher time with the upcoming winter days since they are already stressed.

Watering plants in the fall will give you and your plants a break.  The cooler days give plants a break and don’t have to work so hard to stay hydrated.

Roots can get established throughout the fall and winter because no top growth is going to be growing.

Most plants either go dormant or slow down in growth substantially in the fall and winter.  This is the perfect time for plants to really get those roots stronger and ready for the hot summer months.

Just feels nice!

We all love the weather and being outside which makes it so much more pleasant and easy. So remember let’s plant some plants and enjoy your yard again!
